MIssing The Beach
The thermometer tells me it's 11° outside right now.
The snow is falling.
And I am on day #12 of a rotten cold.
What I need to do is revisit some photos I took on the beach on Sanibel Island, Florida last month. Ah, to be there right now.
If only.

Sterling Heart Bracelet Inspired by an Old Fork
What became of the other silver heart that was cut from the old silver fork that I found at an estate sale?
It's now the centerpiece of my newest SToNZ silver chain bracelet. Nice and heavy...for someone who really LOVES silver. And yes, it IS your size!

New! Tiny Heart Stamp for Tiny Silver Charms!
By popular demand! I now have the ability to stamp a tiny heart on those teeny tiny sterling tag necklaces I make.

Imagine three charms...one with your initial, one with this sweet little heart, and one with the initial of the person you love. Such a nice idea. And extra charms are only $3.00 each.
To see my sterling charm necklaces on Etsy click here.
They make great gifts.

Rainbow Babies & Children’s Foundation Ride the Rainbow Event
OK...it's fundraising season again, so here's one more SToNZ Jewelry donation for another worthy cause. Some people are great at organizing events and chairing committees, (and I have oh-so-much admiration for those wonderful folks) and some people are better at making one of a kind things to donate to the cause. I think you can see which category I have decided I fall into.
This time I created a bracelet and ring set for the Rainbow Babies & Children's Foundation here in Cleveland.
Hand made sterling silver links with a hand cut chunky copper heart tag, the bracelet is more than 8" long and can be linked anywhere to fit any wrist. The sterling and copper ring is a size 7.5. Hope you bid often, bid early and win! Thanks for your support...

2012 Ride the Rainbow
AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS
Saturday April 21, 2012
26380 Curtiss Wright Pkwy, Richmond Heights, Ohio
The Rainbow Babies & Children’s Foundation
proudly announces its signature event, the fifth biennial Ride the Rainbowto be
held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Cleveland Jet Center. Ride the Rainbow 2010
sold out with 1,000 people in attendance, and our community raised over
$830,000 for UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.
Your support of Ride the Rainbow furthers the
hospital’s mission of providing the highest quality family-centered care to
children and families. While Northeast Ohio treasures UH Rainbow Babies &
Children’s Hospital as a special jewel, Rainbow is also recognized
internationally as a leading center for subspecialty care, research and
teaching. Support from Ride the Rainbow funds important programs at Rainbow,
including, but not limited to:
•
Child Life, the group of dedicated team members at Rainbow who make
hospital stays less scary for children, and educates parents on how to cope
with new realities. This service is not paid for by insurance!
•
Injury Prevention, which includes teaching new parents about car seat
safety, children about bicycle helmets, and teaches families about water
safety. These services directly avoid future hospital stays and are completely
paid for by philanthropy and grants!
•
Research and recruitment of talent, bringing the best and brightest
medical leaders to our community to take care of our children. Discoveries made
at Rainbow change how pediatric care is delivered globally.

Lake Erie Beach Stone Bezel Set Necklace
This sort of setting takes a bit more time than the pieces I usually do with drilled stones and jump rings.
I decided to treat a simple dark grey Lake Erie beach stone like it was a special gemstone, because to me, it is just as beautiful.
So, what do you think? Should I make more stuff like this?
I decided to treat a simple dark grey Lake Erie beach stone like it was a special gemstone, because to me, it is just as beautiful.
I created a setting using 20 gauge sterling silver sheet. On the back there's a little surprise: a cut out heart which gives you a peek at the backside of the stone. The pendant is hung on a heavy sterling curb chain.
There's a tiny paddle tag dangling off one of the jump rings on the front. Can you see it? Maybe I'll stamp it with a letter or something. We'll see.So, what do you think? Should I make more stuff like this?

Seaglass and Beach Stones....today's haul
Finally made it back to my favorite Lake Erie beach today.....after about an hour of beachcombing, this is what I came up with. Not bad!
Which beach, you ask? If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

Vintage Skeleton Keys, Hearts, and Lake Erie Beach Stones
Flea markets, antique shows, garage sales and beachcombing have given me fodder for some new SToNZ necklaces this week! I have been especially attracted to boxes full of vintage skeleton keys and old sterling charm bracelets. You can never have too many hearts!
Of course as always I have to add a few Lake Erie beach stones to the mix.
